Very well painted in a rich silvery underglaze blue,
the central roundel depicting a bird perched upon a rock

the rim with large shaped panels of peaches, pomegranates, birds and chrysanthemums,
divided by narrow panels of jewels;
the verso also well painted with shaped panels of peach sprays and narrow panels of lingzhi

Note : Probable Jacobite association : These glasses
blown and cut with Stuart six petal rose-shaped feet were apocryphal,
so that as only one drank from the glass and turned it upward,
their Stuart allegiance in the form of 6-petaled roses would be displayed.

Each oil on Copper
A follower of both Diego Velazquez and Francisco Goya,
Lucas Y Padilla's work,
due to its quality and subject matter,
has often been mis-attributed to the masters, particularly to Goya.
His work resides in many museum collections,
including the Museum or Modern Arts and Metropolitan Museum in New York,
British Museum, London, and the Museo Romantico in Madrid.
His auction record is to 6 figures, with many being quite small,
as this remarkably executed pair.

Norwood Creech
American South / Contemporary
"TEMECULA VINEYARD"
Pastel, Charcoal & Graphite on Paper / Signed Lower Right
Housed in a giltwood cap frame with linen liner and gilt fillet
Norwood Creech is best known for her paintings of the Arkansas Delta,
with many one-woman exhibitions in Eastern Arkansas regional museums and galleries.
She also lived and worked in Southern California from 1987 to 1992,
where she also served as Assistant to Director of Education, Laguna Art Museum,
and Outreach Educator for Bowers Museum (Santa Ana).
As well, she was a charter member Laguna Outreach Community Artists.
She continued to take part in the Laguna Museum Group Exhibitions until 2004.
In 1999, she was granted a residency
at Dorland Mountain Artist Colony, Temecula, California.
The following year, she returned to paint the Temecula vineyards depicted here

where they had been settled from about the end of the 12th century until 1953.

Of rectangular form with canted corners and reeded borders, incised "MADEIRA",
suspended from a silver belcher chain
John Langlands I & John Robertson I were Newcastle based silversmiths,
in partnership from 1778 to 1795.
Their silver is known for its high quality.
This bottle ticket is considered very rare and collectible.
