KANGXI SILVER-MOUNTED BLUE & WHITE FOOTED JAR
The Jar, China, c1700 / Silver Mounts, The Netherlands, 1864

 

 

 

The medium size jar of baluster form with spreading foot, having vertical panels of blooming branches
(prunus and another – possibly camellias) below a band of further prunus sprays,
the spreading foot with foliate sprays above a double blue line and leaf mark verso;
the pierced and scalloped foliate lambrequin-engraved neck
below a domed cover having scroll, floral and foliate engraving;

artemesia leaf verso;
the silver marked for Amsterdam 1864, and .835

 
Condition : Excellent; lacking screw-in finial
