A SCARCE EARLY GEORGE III IRISH SILVER WINE FUNNEL STAND

Also called an Irish wine funnel "drip pan",
of flat circular form having an upright border with beaded rim,
the plain field centering the conjoined script initials I C , with flourishes
These are quite scarce.
Condition : Excellent,
with slight scuffing and resistant tarnish from normal use

London, 1783, Marks Rubbed (an early example)

Of heavy gauge silver, the two part funnel,
the pierced bowl with a beaded rim and above a detaching spout,
nicely shaped tang; marks to the edge, with makers marks illegible
(often the case with bulge marks)
An identical 1785 example is shown "Antique Silver", Peter Waldron, p. 336, PL 1007
Condition : Some pitting to the inside of the detached spout rim;
minor spot of silver reinforcing solder to one side of the clip;
the spout tip possibly minimally trimmed
5" High / 3-1/16" Wide / 2.4 oz.
