good weight, striation, nice grey tone and good ring; folded foot and small tear in stem
GEORGE II JACOBITE INTEREST AIRTWIST WINE
England, c1745-50
The funnel bowl engraved with the Stuart 5-petaled rose and accompanying two buds
(symbolizing James II, and his heirs Henry and Charles, later known as Bonnie Prince Charlie),
an oak leaf (Charles II escape from the Cromwellians by hiding in the Boscobel Oak tree in 1651)
and a sun (restoration of the Stuart kings)

engraved with Masonic emblems :
the compass and the square sided by the level and crescent concave female moon to the left,
the concave male sun and the plumb to the right,
the reverse side with a contemporary conjoined script monogram “HG”;
GEORGIAN DECEPTIVE TOASTMASTER’S GLASS
England, c1820
With a single applied loop handle to the side.
Toastmasters required special glasses with deceptively shallow bowls
to enable them to consume less alcohol with repetitive toasts.

A heavy glass, the bell-shape bowl waisted with a solid base decorated with fruiting vine,
above an inverted baluster stem headed by a flattened shoulder knop on with flattened knop,
the stem having an unusual spiral tear
