Of "uncommon" half-round small form in heavy dense Cuban timbers,
the solid mahogany fold-over top above a veneered frieze
supported
on tapering lappet headed legs ending in pad feet,
retaining early surfaces with beautiful patination
Ref :
An almost identical walnut example is
shown in British Antique Furniture (Andrews), Pl. 333,
cited as "highly desirable" for a
collector.
having a small size of regular 27.5"
seating height,
but of small diameter, being only 27" round
when open
Condition : Excellent, with minor surface abrasions appropriate to
age and usage;
several veneer shrinkage cracks to the veneered frieze;
missing a small piece of veneer on the gate-leg top
