SET of NINE 19th CENTURY CONTINENTAL GLASS ROEMERS

Dutch or German, c1880

 

Set Nine 19th Century German or Dutch Roemers, c1880, by repute Royal Interest 

 

Of pale green tint, each cup-shaped bowl above a cylindrical section
with three applied raspberry prunts raised on a high spun hollow foot

 

Provenance :
By repute, a gift to the British Royal Household by Tsar Nicholas II,
during his 1909 visit to the Isle of Wright, where he spent four days with King Edward VII,
and meeting with Prime Minister Asquith and Foreign Secretary Sir Edward Gray.
The set (originally 12) was subsequently gifted to the great uncle of the previous owner,
upon his retirement from service to the British Royal Household.

 

Condition : Each with normal wear appropriate to age;

one footrim with two small chips, shown in an image below
