England c1762-65, "Island Pattern"




A scarce Lowestoft teabowl and saucer, painted in brilliant underglaze blue,
depicting a Chinese riverscape with pagodas, trees and sampans
within single line and "berry" borders;
the saucer verso with a painted decorator's mark M or 3 in underglaze blue

when it was replaced by the Chinese Garden scene."


Condition : Excellent; beautiful color; a glaze skip to the saucer center;
a few minor tiny chips to the rim; two porcelain & glaze adhesions to upper central teabowl
