"GILDED VEGGIE HIGH TUNNEL"
Charcoal and Oil on Metallic Ground, on Linen
Signed Lower Right : Norwood Creech 2018
For over 20 years, Norwood Creech has envisioned and depicted the flat landscape of Northeast Arkansas's Delta.
A majority of the works, most painted on location, employ the use of oil on charcoal on linen.
Within these works exists the series #GildTheDelta, whose images are presented on
a metallic ground, giving the appearance of having been painted on gold, or silver.
Mesmerizing to see, the paintings not only glow from the effect, but change in color,
value, and character depending upon the viewing angle and direction of the light.
In 2018, the series #GildTheDelta debuted at
The Arts and Science Center for Southeast Arkansas, in Pine Bluff.
The 2016 painting "The Woodz," (24"x72") remains in ASC's permanent collection.
"Gilded Veggie High Tunnel," painted on location, depicts a greenhouse interior
in charcoal and oil, over linen primed with metallic
