KANGXI BLUE & WHITE TRANSITIONAL STYLE PLATE

China, c1680-1690

 

 

 

The round small plate with a low cavetto and flat, painted in the "Transitional" manner with two ladies in a garden,

each with possibly a bird or a leaf bouquet, beside a large hollow rock and pinus, small tables with vases and

precious objects on the rim, the verso center painted with a squid (cuttlefish) within concentric circles,

the outer rim with prunus branches within further concentric circles; possibly made for the Japanese Market

  

Condition : several usual early firing flaws to glaze; otherwise excellent
