GEORGE I BRITANNIA STANDARD SILVER MARROW SCOOP
THE SMALLER BOWL A "REVERSE SCOOP"

The very long scoop of heavy gauge silver and usual double ended form,
the smaller bowl and larger bowls facing in opposing concave directions ("reverse scoop")
the verso shaft scratch-engraved 'B A L'

 

Marks : Hitchcock's mark with crenellated upper edge and fleur de lis below,
Grimwade #1016, entered 1713

Maker's mark crisp but the I partially cast over on the right side;
Leopard's head, Britannia and date A rubbed but legible

 

Note : Marrow scoops were introduced about 1690.

 

Condition : Excellent; no evidence of monogram or crest removal

 

9.75" Long / 2.1 oz.
