GEORGE I BRITANNIA STANDARD SILVER MARROW SCOOP

The quite long heavy gauge .958 silver marrow scoop of usual double ended form,

the larger bowl crested :

a ladder of 13 steps
(Likely a household heraldic badge or rebus; still being researched)

 

Good to excellent marks : AR in oval, Grimwade #84, entered in 1703

AR, leopard's head slightly rubbed to one side;

Britannia rubbed to the top; date mark good and slightly cast over on one side

 

Note : Marrow scoops were introduced about 1690.

 

Overall condition: Excellent

 

9" Long / 1.6 oz.
