The round dished finely figured solid mahogany top, cut from the trunk of the tree just below the point where two branches spread, with original surfaces and a warp typical of such cuts, above a tapering and ring turned standard having a lower urn-form wrythen-turned knop, raised on three well formed tripod legs ending in pointed pad feet; the top with a warp to one edge
Condition : Original surfaces with superior patination and color; warp to one side top; otherwise excellent; please note below, that the center is still supporting a glass erect and plumb.
Provenance : David H. Wilson, Teaneck NJ
David H. Wilson (1949-2011) was one of this country's leading connoisseurs in 17th and 18th century British furniture. He served as a consultant, appraiser and restorer for Sotheby’s and Christies, as well as leading dealers and collectors in New York, London, and throughout the United States. Mr. Wilson was also instrumental in vetting many major collections for authenticity.
