George II Cuban Mahogany Bachelor's Chest, with original surfaces and pierced brasses, England, c1745

 

Of heavy dense and well figured Cuban (Santo Domingan) mahogany,
having excellent nut brown color

and retaining original patinated surfaces and pierced brasses,
the rectangular fold-out top with wooden writing surface to the interior,

above two rectangular lopers and four graduated long drawers,

the whole raised on shaped bracket feet;
retaining an old paper shipping label to the back, and key

 

Condition : Excellent, with wear appropriate to age and usage,
having expected nicks and scratches and a very few minor small repairs;
a few stains and small gouges to the top

 

30.5" High x 31.5" Wide x 15" Deep
