George II Brass Taperstick, England, c1740-45 

 

With an early petal form base surmounted by a central column
having an inverted baluster knop above two small basal knops,
and basal knopped cylindrical nozzle and integral drip pan;
unmarked

 

Note : The integral drip pans, eventually separate bobeches, were introduced c1740

 

Condition : Excellent, without breaks or repairs;
normal small marks and areas of tarnish appropriate to age and usage

 

4.5" High / 5.8 oz.
