Maker's marks Cast Over & Rubbed, 1799 0r 1800 (date letter D)

Scottish Interest

 

 

 

Exceptionally long, of usual double-ended form, with small and large scoops, the verso crested

with a demi-griffin holding it its dexter claw a sword, below a motto FIDE ET VIRTUTE

 (WITH FAITH AND VALOR) (64.6 Fairbairn’s)

(Gladstanes, Glaidstanes, Scotland) and chased with thread and shell

 

Condition : one minor dent to the larger bowl; marks cast over and rubbed;

 George III profile visible; date letter also cast over, but appears to be "D"

(1799 if London, 1800 if Edinburgh)

 

9-7/8”” Long / 1.5 oz.
