SET 6 SILVER CANNON-HANDELED DESSERT KNIVES

In a scarce form used from the late Charles II through Queen Anne periods, a set of six silver dessert knives, each

cannon-handled with a knop finial, the fully marked silver blades of a Scimitar I form, the marked silver handles loaded;

 quite faithful to the original form (slightly slenderer) and excellent for use with trefid, dognose and rattail table silver.

 

Condition: Excellent, with crisp marks to blades and ferrules

 

Note: Cannon knives were used with trefid, dognose and rattail form spoons. For a 1680 cannon knife of

this form with blade marked for Bartholomew King, see British Cutlery, Peter Wilson, p.94, Pl. 57
