Worcester octagonal polychrome DEEP plate

England, 1778-80

 

 

After a Chinese famille verte original, painted with a long-tailed bird perched upon a fencepost

beneath a pine tree entwined with flowering wisteria, a jardini?re upon a table beside and a

further long-tailed bird in flight above, the rim with phoenix in flight between peony sprays reserved

on a green ground, the underside of the rim with further peony sprays

 

Note :

These exact copies of the Chinese originals are rare instances for Worcester, and

could have been "replacements" for services, or sold by themselves as decoration
