In the exuberant early 18th century manner of Paul De Lamerie, the lobed border with engraved strapwork centering

a quartered armorial, ringed stem and dome lobed base, the top marked 1829, the standard marked 1832

Condition: Excellent; maker's mark on the plate rubbed but readable; original gilding with expected slight wear,

the wear showing as tiny spots in the image of the top, but not a factor when viewing or handling the tazza

Note: Robert Garrard II was an important silversmith of the 19^th century, appointed goldsmith and

jeweler to the king in 1830, and in 1843 official crown jeweler. He created and built the famed

America's Cup Trophy (1848.)
