VICTORIAN JACOBITE INTEREST LARGE GOBLET
England, probably c1850






The large & heavy funnel bowl over a teared baluster stem on a round foot with snapped pontil,
the bowl engraved with Jacobite symbols, one side centering an oval with a cuffed and roped hand holding
a flower engraved glass over water (toasting the “King across the water”) sided by a sprig with Stuart 6-petaled rose
with single bud to the left, and spray with 3 thistles to the right; the verso engraved FIAT (“May it Happen”)
above a sun (or star) with 6 rays, all within a wreath of white oak leaves and acorns.
Condition: Excellent; good striation and bubbling to the glass; good footrim wear,
commensurate with mid 19th century; possibly made as a commemorative; good quality engraving
