UNUSUAL CHINESE EXPORT FAMILLE ROSE PLATE
Probably Persian Market

Early Qianlong, c1740

 

 

The round plate centering a famille rose chrysanthemum spray within an iron red and gilt spearhead roundel surrounded by a border of blue enameled flowerheads alternating with cloud scrolls that seem to mirror into butterflies, all within gilt-whorled border and gilt rim; the verso with two expansive prunus sprays

 

Note : Painting to the rim verso disappeared about 1740-45

 

Condition : excellent, without damage or repairs;

a few very minor areas of rubbing to the central roundel gilt
