M. FORD CREECH ANTIQUES
FINE REGENCY CALAMANDER GAMES TABLE
England, c1825

A highly figured rectangular fold-over top with rounded corners over a chamfered shaft with four radiating scrolls,
on a molded plinth base with disc feet, the slightly faded top opening to a fully vibrant inner calamander surface with dramatic light-dark striation
Condition: With original surfaces; light surface scratching; structurally very sound.
Note: Calamander ranks only behind satinwood as being one of the most desirable and expensive woods. Its drama comes from its bold
figuration from almost black to a pale yellow. It was used for veneer during the Regency period on only the most expensive pieces.
