A very early and rare example, or double ended form, the larger bowl verso crested : two arms, embowed, issuing from clouds, all proper, vested ermine, supporting in the hands a sun in splendor - Fairbairns 276.11 (Sir Wilfrid Lawson, Bart., Cumberland*)
Condition : Excellent, with patination consistent with age and usage; good marks; the Britannia mark rubbed, maker’s, London and date clear but partially cast over (Grimwade ref. #83, A.R in shaped punch)
