FINE PAIR OF GEORGE III SILVER BUTTER ESCALLOP SHELLS

Of heavy gauge silver, the bodies cast as escallop shells, the flat handles centering shells sided by scrolling foliage on a
stippled ground, the handle rims with gadrooning; raised on three bright cut realistically shaped whelk feet
Samuel Strahan entered his first mark as a watchcase maker in 1805 (S.S in a rectangle, Grimwade p. 348),
with both watchcases and hollowware being recorded into the 4th quarter of the 19th century.
Condition : Excellent, with light rubbing to the marks
