circular  dished base, surmounted by a cast foliate urn form nozzle with shell and leaf-cast drip-tray

“A considerable variety of wooden candlesticks was made by Chippendale and his contemporaries.  In the smaller and 

earlier take specimens, the stems are generally of plain baluster form supported on a circular stand, and three is sometimes 

an outer socket to  a glass wind screen.  The majority of these wind screens have been broken. The stems of the more 

ornamental wooden candlesticks are elegantly turned, and decorated with gadrooning or with acanthus ornament.”
