RARE EASTERN HAN DYNASTY LEAD GLAZED MONEY TREE BASE
China, 25 - 220 A.D.

Additional detailed photos available if desired.
An extremely rare large Chinese lead (green) glazed pottery base for a bronze money tree, the design in high relief
of a rider astride a ram over a qilin and monkey, with a dragon verso: the lower section with a figure riding
a dragon (or qilin) followed by an attendant, and a figure leading a stag before a pine tree, and facing another
undecipherable figure - perhaps a female or prunus. The silvery "frosting" is mineralization from 1800 years of burial in a moist area.
Condition: Excellent - Unrestored chip to rim & ram's tail; kiln adhesions; cracks to inner body, some of which appear to
have been caused during firing; several glaze chips & natural crazing.
