GOOD GEORGE III MAHOGANY BUTLER'S TRAY ON STAND

England, c1770

 

 

 

Of dense heavy timber in exquisite faded nut brown mahogany color, the highly figured rectangular single board tray base

surrounded by a dovetailed conforming gallery, raised to the back and sides,

the sides with pierced handholds, resting on the original block and turned X-form folding stand

 

Condition : Excellent; early surfaces with excellent color and expected staining;

 the backside with some light sun fading from sitting at the same window for a very long time - lovely to see;

a small stable shrinkage separation to the lower right corner, visible in images below; overall a fine example

 

30.5" High x 29" Wide x 19.5" Deep
