William Dempster, Edinburgh, 1759

 Viscount's Coronet over D*

 

 

 


Of heavy gauge silver, the circular salver with shell and scroll border, centering a viscount’s coronet above a script and foliate D*,

within a flat-chased stylized foliate border with fruit alternating with flora, leaves and C-scrolls, raised on three hoof feet

 

*The likely provenance of the "D" is still under research by our UK heraldry specialist.

 

Condition : Excellent; usual minor surface scratches and pinpoint dents (visible in images);

some discrete signs of solder reinforcement at feet; maker's mark rubbed but legible

 

7-3/8” Diameter / 8.4 oz.
