With beautiful Cuban mahogany timbers and nut brown color, the upper section with a stepped dentil molded cornice over a single mirrored door opening to an interior fitted with a series of small drawers with pigeon holes above; the fall-front opening to a fully fitted interior with central prospect door flanked by small folio drawers and a series of small drawers and pigeon holes; all above four full-width drawers of graduated depths and raised on spreading ogee bracket feet; the antique mirror plate later
Provenance : The Earls Fitzwilliam, Wentworth, Woodhouse, Yorkshire; by repute, accompanied by an old advertising 'paste up', picturing this bureau and bearing their sales price (ours is quite different); Estate of David H. Wilson, NY / NJ
Condition : Excellent; nicks and scratches appropriate to age; rich faded color to the exterior, while the interior retains the original depth of color; minor old repairs to the lopers an second drawer on the right edge; replaced cast b z
