Of navette form, the sides pierced with acanthus leaves and bright cut floral swags, one side centering an unengraved
circle, attached reeded handle, resting on a pedestal base, reeded rim and footrim; clearly marked beneath pedestal base,
the handle with lion passant; the foot verso scratch-engraved in contemporary script, Mr Prat, and an X form cypher
Note: Jonathan Bateman worked for only a few months,
registering his first mark in December 1790, and dying of cancer in April, 1791.
Condition: Excellent; two small dimples to underside of body; slight bend to handle
