EARLY GEORGE III SILVER FISH / CAKE SLICE

A very early example, with a triangular foliate and floral pierced blade, the shaped silver shaft arising from a blossom

stem and ending in a turned wood handle, the blade verso engraved P * B in contemporary block letters

 

 Note: The fish slice want first made is silver in the second half of the 18h century, the earliest examples dating to c1760. 

Unlike the curved variety from the late 18th century, this triangular shape,

although made for fish, is also useful as a cake and pastry server.

 

Condition:  Excellent, without splits or repairs; crisp marks
