The bowed shaped crestrail continuing to out-scrolled handrests with 4 pierced waisted splats and 3 turned supports,
the quarter-round stuff-over seat resting on 4 chamfered square-section legs joined by molded x-shaped stretchers;
possibly of provincial origin
Condition: Excellent; finish is old, if not original; old repair to one stretcher; some reglueing; some minor nicks and
gouges appropriate to age and usage; upholstery appropriate to period, with horsehair and unmilled cotton;
webbing secure; Fortuny-style upholstery and tacks recent
Note: Stuff-over seats became popular c1760. This has always been a stuff-over seat and not converted from a slip seat.
