Of rich color and delicate form, the nest of four graduated crossbanded rectangular tables on slender legs with

bamboo collared embellishments, the tops with ebonized rims and inlaid with satinwood,

 the legs raised on carved overscroll bases ending in turned toupie feet,

this particular form with toupee feet shown in George Smith’s 1808 catalog Household Furniture

Condition : Excellent, with minor expected wear appropriate for age and usage;

a very good set of the Georgian period

Note :

Quartetto tables were introduced by Thomas Sheraton in Cabinet Makers’ Dictionary of Design, 1805,

suggested for sewing usage.  

However George Smith, in Household Furniture (1808) saw them as refreshment tables.
