*Note: Dutch Neoclassical furniture acquired very unique and distinctive qualities, often adopting as a starting

point the rectangular Louis XVI forms.  The limited space in some Dutch townhouses often required

metamorphic furniture, with fold-over tops, or space-saving tambour cupboards.  This Opfluptafel, or Klapbuffet,

was an important innovation: the top of the commode lifting, allowing fitted shelves to drop down for the setting-up

of tea for entertaining.  Sometimes they are seen with basin-holes for washing after tea ceremony, or for heating embers.

Pronounced opflupptahfil (flap-up table) and cluppboofette, meaning simply lift-top

Usual price range: 5000.00 to 15,000.00.
