CHINESE EXPORT MOLDED BLUE & WHITE CENTER BOWL
Qianlong, c1750-65
The molded bowl with fluted body and scalloped rim, the interior painted in blue and white with large sprays of chrysanthemums, roses and other scattered flora within a rim with a band of stylized flowerhead and leaf diapering above a spearheads; knife-cut rim having burned orange in firing
Note : The slightly flattened bottom form of this Chinese export bowl bears resemblance to English "junket bowls" of the same period. Junket bowls are also known to have been used for fresh salads, quite popular with the French in the 18th century - but not so with the English. Condition : Excellent; several minor frits to the unglazed rim
