Each center painted in puce, yellow, turquoise, green blue and rust with grisaille, depicting a Chinese
family on a fenced garden terrace, a lady watching from the doorway, before an island riverscape, within a gilt
and grisaille spear head border, the rim with grisaille and iron-red (rust) cell diapering, reserved within shaped
vignettes of grisaille, puce and rust birds on branches and flora; brown dressed rim; plain verso
Condition: excellent; one tiny nick to one plate on rim verso (seen only upon close inspection)
Note: The use of cell diapering and grisaille on this set dates to 1760, or earlier. The painting is quite fine,
with equally fine condition.
