FAMILLE ROSE ENAMELS
“Pink family”, a style of decoration in opaque enamels in shades of rose, derived from chromium of gold.
Developed in the Yongzheng period in China, c1720 by European Jesuits working in the hongs, it was widely
used in the eighteenth century in the West, as well as the Orient. Early famille rose has a rather rusty cast, while
late 18th century pieces tend to be more rose in hue. It remains very popular today
