CHINESE EXPORT FAMILLE ROSE & GRISAILLE MANDARIN DEEP PLATTER

With Chinese & European Figures

Of rectangular canted and notched form with a deep cavetto, painted in a palette of grisaille and sepia with famille rose

violet tones and iron red, yellow, blue and differing shades of green, heightened with bianco sopra bianco and gilt, the

center depicting Chinese figures, probably a hunting party, in a landscape with five dogs in grisaille, a hawk and two cranes, 

beside a pavilion and before a river and mountain scene, the mountain depicted in soft violet; the rim with cartouches of flora

 alternating with European figures on a harbor shore, and flying a kite, the rim and cavetto with gilt scrollwork  

in sepia and grisaille; a very nice soft color combination on grey green porcelain

  

Condition: Very good and without damage or repairs; some expected rubbing to enamels and gilt

consistent with age and use
