The fig shaped bowl with squared shaft and with provincial lap attachment to the baluster shaped terminal with seal top,
pricked initials AR/IB 1640; marker's mark to bowl only: TB between pellets in a shield
Brothwell, son of John Brothwell, “county of Darbye”, apprenticed to William Frend in 1613, and was free in 1623.
He had four apprentices between 1628 and 1647. The mark TB with pellets between and below (Jackson P.117) noted on a
seal-top spoon dated 1627, may well pertain to him. (London Silver Spoonmakers, 1500-1697, Timothy Kent)
