Each notched octagonal plate with a circular central well depicting a poling boatman in an island riverscape with
formal buildings and a willow to the right, and a pine trees to the left, all before rocks, and having rather prominent birds in
the sky; the even powder blue ground with unusually detailed reserved panels: four fan-shaped border panels painted with houses
and pine trees alternating with willows and pine, all with birds; four small round panels of lotus sprigs; the verso with twigs
beneath the rim and 6 pseudo Chinese character marks within concentric circles
Condition: Each with firing flaws and small rim nicks

Bow Powder Blue Octagonal Dessert Plate, and Isleworth Fluted Dessert Plate, shown with a Kangxi Powder (or Blown)
Blue Dish, c1690-1720 (center). Bow, Worcester and Isleworth copied the Chinese export originals, blowing dry
cobalt through a bamboo straw onto an oiled surface, masking the reserves for painting. They are among the most striking
of all early English porcelains.
