BOW PORCELAIN VINE-LEAF MOLDED SAUCEBOAT

England, c1760

 

 

 

The rare small Bow porcelain sauceboat modeled as overlapping grape leaves painted in green and yellow

with puce veins with feuille-de-choux rim, above an oval foot painted with puce c-scrolls, the interior centering

two roses with a leafy spray at each rim, vinestock loop handle split at the top and ending in a leaf terminal

Provenance: Duke and Duchess of Windsor; lot 2009, Sotheby’s sale 7000, and bearing auction label;

also with painted household inventory number verso: W/C/94

 

 

Condition: several small flakes around upper rim, small chip on base, 2 small old  1/3" rim hairlines,

handle with tiny glaze chip
