BOW PORCELAIN MOLDED SAUCE BOAT

England, c1765 - 68

 

 

 

 

 

 

The small shaped oval boat molded with roses and bellflowers with a shaped rim and  spurred strap handle,

the interior painted in blue and white with a cell-diapered rim above floral sprays

 

Condition: Excellent with very light kiln spit in several areas

 

Note: This floral molded form is based on the Worcester original (see p. 450, Pl. 608, Worcester Porcelain, Zorensky Collection). 

The greatest variation is in the small flat footrim.  For an identically molded Bow sauceboat, see Bow Porcelain, Adams & Redstone,

p. 166, Pl. 102, and Phillips Watney Collection Part III, p. 10, Lot 824.
