"Maria driei", and “worti greigruit”

 

“Maria heiisgeikt”(?), and “haar neigt”

 

 

Of long rectangular form with rounded ends, the lidded box with engraved biblical scenes depicting an angel appearing to Mary

on the top with inscriptions : "Maria driei", and “worti greigruit”;

the verso with a standing lady addressing Mary, sided by the inscriptions: “Maria heiisgeikt”(?), and “haar neigt”,

the end panels possibly wheat sheaths; the sides engraved “VERLAAT” and “ DE WERELT”

 

Condition: Very good, with small erosion of brass atop one hinge; engraving still very clear
